As a highly experienced (ever evolving) and passionate educator, Cat Cogliandro possesses an extensive background in dance training and education. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from SUNY Purchase and a Master of Fine Arts with a focus on pedagogy from the University of Arizona, Cat brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their teaching practice. Their mission is to create nurturing and empowering learning environments where students can develop their technical skills, artistic expression, and self-confidence. Through their extensive training, experience in national/international education, and dedication to fostering growth, Cat strives to inspire and guide students on their journey towards becoming skilled dancers and confident individuals. This approach combines codified techniques with a somatic and psychological approach to encourage vulnerability and risk-taking, allowing students to access a deeper connection with movement and build self-confidence. Cat also works towards making dance more accessible and equitable while reducing harm within the industry through ongoing research and collaboration with advocacy organizations, including their own called The Dance Safe.
